Death of Mohinder Singh Kaypee's son: One accused on the run, another hospitalised
Even as the city police had booked two youths in the alleged hit-and-run case, resulting in the death of Richie Kaypee, son of ex-MP Mohinder Singh Kaypee, on Saturday night, the police are yet to make arrests in the case.
While one of the accused Gursharan Singh Prince, who was driving Creta on the fateful night, is absconding since the incident, the other accused Vishu Kapoor, who was driving Grand Vitara, is still admitted to a private hospital for his own treatment. Both accused were moving in their speeding cars with their families when the accident occurred and all three cars, including Richie's Fortuner, take a swirl near Mata Rani Chowk in Model Town.
The Creta of Prince, however, has been recovered by the police from the basement parking of a gurdwara in Guru Teg Bahadur Nagar. The CCTV trails showed that Prince went to the gurdwara parking to hide his damaged car before fleeing away with his family. His house at the Guru Teg Bahadur Nagar locality was locked for the second consecutive day today. A businessman, he owns Sham Enterprises, a garment store at Sheikhan Bazaar.
The police have deployed teams in the hospital where Vishu Kapoor is admitted. He too had suffered injuries when his car had hit the railing and a staircase of a showroom in Model Town after the accident. The tyres of his car had got flattened and his windshield glass had got smashed. Kapoor's wife Shelly Kapoor and daughter Rajvi Kapoor too had suffered injuries in the mishap.
Meanwhile, the Kaypee family will hold the last rites of Richie tomorrow at cremation ground in Model Town. His sister Rupali has arrived from the US. MS Kaypee's two brothers too are expected to be back from the UK by this evening. Head of Dera Radha Soami Gurinder Singh too visited the house of Kaypee and condoled the demise of his son.
