Deepti Uppal takes charge as Kapurthala DC

Deepti Uppal, a 2011-batch IAS officer, assumed charge as the Deputy Commissioner, Kapurthala, here today. She was given a guard of honour by Punjab Police personnel on arrival at the District Administrative Complex before taking over the charge.

Before joining as the Kapurthala DC, she was posted as the Additional Secretary Personnel and Managing Director, Punjab State Industrial Development Corporation Limited. She had served as the ADC (G) at Kapurthala from December 8, 2015, to May 15, 2017, and is well aware of problems of the city. She even officiated as the DC here for a 25-day stint in 2017.

She has also served as the CEO of the Smart City, Amritsar, along with charge of the Chief Administrator of the Amritsar Development Authority. Before her transfer back to the Punjab cadre, she had been the Deputy Commissioner of Rajouri in Jammu and Kashmir.

After taking over the charge, Uppal said the development of the district and the service to people would be her first priority.

She said: “I will always ensure to pay heed to public grievances and issues on a priority basis so that such problems could be sorted out well in time.”

She added that timely and speedy resolution of public grievances, expeditious processing of revenue cases and timely execution of development projects would remain her top priorities.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner was also welcomed by Additional Deputy Commissioner (G) Rahul Chaba and other officials.
