National farmers’ leader and former BJYM president Sukhminderpal Singh Grewal has dismissed Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann’s allegations regarding the increase in Lok Sabha seats, stating that the delimitation process is the sole responsibility of the Election Commission, not the BJP.

“The Election Commission is an independent constitutional body that follows its own formula for delimitation. If any political party has objections, they should raise them directly with the EC instead of blaming the BJP,” Grewal said while addressing mediapersons. He further criticised the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) for making baseless allegations, saying, “I feel sorry for their understanding. May God grant them wisdom.”

Asked about Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale, Grewal distanced himself from his ideology, stating, “Some people may support his views, but I do not.” He alleged that certain groups are attempting to destabilize Punjab and push it back into a dark era. “The Punjab Government must take strict action against such elements or they will succeed in their agenda,” he warned.

Regarding the National Security Act (NSA) case against radical leader Amritpal Singh, Grewal clarified that the Punjab Government filed the case while the Central Government is only ensuring due legal process.

He also blamed AAP and the Congress for instigating farmers to hold protests and then forcibly evicting the protesters. “The AAP government initially supported the agitation, but later, they themselves forced the farmers out and even arrested them,” he said.

Grewal strongly criticized the Bhagwant Mann government’s economic policies, claiming that Punjab is heading towards an economic distress.
