Anti-dengue teams have intensified their efforts in Hoshiarpur, conducting inspections at restaurants, food stalls, and marriage palaces in the urban area.

The teams focused on checking water-filled containers at these locations and educating the concerned individuals on the importance of weekly cleaning and covering water containers to prevent rainwater accumulation.

It was emphasised that the Aedes mosquito, responsible for spreading dengue and chikungunya, primarily breeds in containers with even the smallest amount of standing water. The key to preventing these diseases is to eliminate water stagnation, which should be checked and cleaned at least once a week to disrupt the mosquito’s life cycle.

District Epidemiologist Dr Jagdeep Singh, sharing the details, mentioned that anti-larva teams also conducted door-to-door visits to raise awareness about dengue prevention. The teams checked for mosquito larvae and took immediate action by removing water from various containers. They also provided guidance on the proper disposal of water from containers such as coolers, tyres, earthen pots, trays behind refrigerators, animal/bird drinking bowls, buckets, and bottles, among others.
