Dengue prevention measures underway: Phagwara MC Commissioner

To combat the spread of dengue in Phagwara, Municipal Commissioner Anupam Kaler held a review meeting with officials from the Health Department and the Municipal Corporation’s health branch.

The MC Commissioner said fogging operations have commenced in vulnerable areas of the city. Additionally, ASHA workers are visiting households to raise awareness about dengue.

Kaler instructed officials from both departments to form joint teams to conduct inspections across the city, raise awareness about dengue larvae, and ensure fogging in hotspot areas.
They have also been directed to start imposing fines on violators. Kaler emphasised the distribution of pamphlets to educate the public about dengue prevention and urged NGOs to participate in these efforts. She appealed to the residents of Phagwara to ensure that clean water does not accumulate in their surroundings, as dengue larvae breed in clean stagnant water. Citizens were advised to avoid storing water in coolers, open containers and tyres to prevent the spread of dengue.
