Punjab Legislative Assembly Deputy Speaker Jai Krishan Singh Rouri has said that under the leadership of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, the Punjab Government is leaving no stone unturned to eradicate drug abuse. The CM has been encouraging the youth to stay away from drugs by encouraging them to play games.

He was addressing as the chief guest during the closing ceremony of the district level games under the anti-drug campaign run by Hoshiarpur Police at the Police Lines ground here on Thursday. On the occasion, the chief guest and other guests also honoured the winning teams. Dasuya MLA Karambir Singh Ghuman, MLA Sham Chaurasi, Dr Ravjot Singh, Deputy Commissioner Komal Mittal were also present.

On the occasion, the teams emerging first, second and third in different competitions were given Rs 21,000, Rs 11,000 and Rs 5,000 and mementos. In the kabaddi competitions, Baghpur school stood first; DAV College, Dasuya, second; and Phambian school third.

In the volleyball competition, Mukerian stood first, Bullowal second and Garhshankar third. In basketball matches, the Tanda team emerged first, Purhiran team second and Garhshankar team third. In football matches, Gian Chabbewal stood first, Bajwara second and Bilaspur team third.

SSP Surendra Lamba, while welcoming the guests and thanking those who cooperated in this event, said around 3,000 people participated in the district level sports meet and 1,000 players participated in different sports.
