Jalandhar, February 6

DC Varinder Kumar Sharma and SSP Navjot Singh Mahal on Thursday reviewed the ongoing desilting work under the railway bridge in Gidderpindi on the downstream of Sutlej.

The Ministry of Railways was executing the work at an estimated cost of Rs 50 lakh with the support of renowned environmentalist Balbir Singh Seechewal.

The DC and the SSPsaid the work which was of immense significance would be completed within a fortnight.

They said 5 to 12 feet sand scattered over around 1,600 feet land at varied spots would be desilted from under the railway bridge at Gidderpindi for which special permission had been given by the Ministry of Railways.
