Jalandhar, July 25

Tarvinder Singh Raju, owner of the DIPS Group, has received a death threat in connection with a dispute in a school purchasing deal. The Navi Baradari police yesterday registered a case under Sections 341 (wrongful restraint) and 506 (criminal intimidation). Ishan Makkar, a resident of Virk Enclave, has been named as the accused.

As per information, the incident occurred on April 26 outside Gate No. 4 of the DC office. Raju had filed a complaint with the Commissioner of Police regarding a dispute in a school deal and receiving death threat. According to Raju, Makkar and his associates threatened and demanded Rs 1 crore from him.

After receiving the complaint, an inquiry into the matter was handed over to an ADCP-rank officer. The officer found that the complainant and accused had entered into an agreement for the sale of a school in Jalalabad. However, the situation took a tragic turn when the complainant’s father passed away on February 11, 2021. Subsequently, the registry of the school was made using the power of attorney.

The ADCP said the complainant had made the payment for the school deal but was being harassed by the accused, who claimed the school was leased rather than sold. The investigation, however, did not find any evidence of a lease agreement, whereas the complainant provided police with details of the payments made for purchasing the school. Thus, an FIR in this connection was lodged against Ishan Makkar recently.
