DIPS teachers attend workshop

Jalandhar: A workshop was organised by DIPS group for the teachers of prep classes, in which DIPS educational adviser Monika Mehta discussed with them multilateral development of the students and the challenges of the future. She said the child’s mind is like clay, like a clean mirror on which whatever is printed or written, will be imprinted there. In such a situation, it becomes our responsibility as teachers to show positive attitude to the children. She said they should be made intelligent so that they can adjust well with common sense, worldly knowledge and their own personality. About 50 teachers and 20 coordinators participated in this workshop. They also brought important teaching aids made by them. Through these, the knowledge of colours, knowledge of feeling, accumulation and subtraction, the art of tying shoe laces, buttoning, closing the zip can be told. Today, when most of the parents are working, DIPS is ready to enable the children so that they can do their own work. During this, Monica Mehta made the teachers aware of the qualities of creative writing and communication. She said in today’s era, if you want to make a good place in the corporate sector and want to make an impact on others, then it is very important to be proficient in the art of speaking. On the occasion, poetry writing activity was organised to encourage creative teaching. In this, the teachers expressed their feelings by writing funny poems and were applauded by everyone.

Meritorious kid gets free admission

Father Peter Kavumpuram, director of Trinity Group of Institutions, said on Friday that Rosmi Sandhu, a meritorious student of Punjab was honoured by the management of Trinity College. Rosmi Sandhu, a student of Government Senior Secondary School (Girls), Ghariala in Patti, Tarn Taran, scored 97.80 per cent marks in the Class XII results announced by the Punjab School Education Board. Securing the ninth place in the overall rankings, she made her school, teachers and parents proud. Rosmi Sandhu is enrolled in BA to pursue higher studies at Trinity College, Jalandhar. Trinity College has always been committed to the welfare and all-round development of its students. The management of the college has honoured Rosmi Sandhu with a free admission in BA. All the teachers blessed her and wished her a bright future.

Lecture on polycystic ovarian disease

HMV Collegiate Senior Secondary School organised an informative lecture on polycystic ovarian disease (PCOD) under the guidance of Principal Prof Dr Ajay Sareen. The resource person was Dr Harpreet Chhabra, IVF specialist at Armaan Hospital, Jalandhar. Principal Dr Ajay Sareen said health is the real wealth and to preserve this wealth, an active lifestyle should be maintained and precautions are always better than cure. Dr Harpreet Chhabra made the students aware of PCOD and its symptoms and precautionary measures. The students showed a keen interest and asked questions related to it. The school coordinator, Meenakshi Sayal, thanked the resource person and felt proud that Dr Harpreet Chhabra, an alumni of the college, was one of her brightest students. Dr Harpreet congratulated Principal Dr Ajay Sareen, faculty and students as recently HMV was acclaimed as the best institute working for the social cause by the ASSOCHAM.

Skill edu at Kanya Maha Vidyalaya

Kanya Maha Vidyalaya is continuously making endeavours for providing quality skill education to its students. In this context, DDU Kaushal Kendra awarded by the Government of India to KMV has been running eight B.Voc. and three M.Voc. courses for the motive of providing skill development education to the students. Throwing more light on it, Principal Prof (Dr) Atima Sharma Dwivedi averred that there are many lucrative career options in skill development courses as after the successful completion of the programme, the students will be able to perform multiple jobs in their respective fields. All these skill-based courses keep job prospects in mind as college has tie-ups and signed MoUs with different industries. It is important to mention that the college is running eight skill development B.Voc courses in animation, retail management, management and secretarial practices, artificial intelligence and data science, hospitality & tourism, nutrition, exercise and health, textile design and apparel technology and beauty and wellness and three M. Voc. courses in animation and VFX, retail management and textile design and apparel technology under its umbrella. The students of nutrition, exercise and health are working as dietician in various health centres. Students of Animation and VFX are working as Rotoscopic Paint Artist, 3D Artist and Video Editor. Students of B.Voc. Textile Design and Apparel Technology participate in KMV fashion show annually where in the budding student designers get an opportunity to showcase their talent. Not only the apparels are designed by the students but are presented by the student models themselves on the stage providing a boost to their confidence and sense of ownership in what they are doing. Students of beauty and wellness are also starting their own business ventures as a make-up artists, whereas the students of retail management are also finding best placements in the industry. The Principal lauded the efforts of Director, DDU Kaushal Kendra, Dr Gopi Sharma, various course in-charges and also the faculty for their constant efforts.

Skill dev course at Doaba College

The PG department of CS and IT of Doaba College organised a value-added certificate skill development course on ‘Web designing and development, corel draw and photoshop’ for 10+2 students of various schools.

Prof Sakshi conducted web designing and development classes while Prof Harpreet and Prof Neel Money conducted corel draw and photoshop classes. Various events like computer aptitude test, antakshari and motivational lectures were organised for the students during the workshop. Principal Dr Pardeep Bhandari focused on the importance of thoughts and good vision and how they help one in becoming what he/she wants by using a quote “you become what you think”. Dr Pardeep Bhandari said it was because of such relevant skill development courses that students of CS and IT of Doaba College got placements during the last many years in Wipro, Infosys, Accenture, TCS, etc, companies.

Van Mahotsav at Eklavya School

Eklavya School celebrated van mahotsav on the premises. This day is inaugurated to celebrate the importance of growing and saving our forests. On this occasion, special guest Baljit Singh Kang (owner of Kang Natural Farm who deals in organic farming) was invited to share his views. He discussed the importance of planting trees, growing different vegetables and fruits organically. He shared the process of making compost at home. On this occasion, primary students went out on a nature walk. Dimple Malhotra (administrator) of Eklavya School shared her thoughts by mentioning that how an individual can contribute to save mother earth by planting trees in their vicinity. Pre-primary students did different activities like presentation on parts of plants, save tree, save earth, etc. Primary students planted saplings and did poster making activity on Save Earth. JK Gupta, chairman of Eklavya School, appreciated the efforts of the teachers to spread awareness on forest conservation and to save the environment. Seema Handa, director, and Komal Arora, principal, of Eklavya School appreciated the efforts of the students and teachers.

‘Sketch & paint like an artist’ class

The PG department of Fine Arts of Apeejay College of Fine Arts conducted a three-week “Sketch and Paint like an Artist” class under the skill enhancement courses, wherein students acquired skills on creative approach towards artworks.

Principal Dr Neerja Dhingra, while appreciating the efforts put in by the department, stated, “Many a time students are not able to find the correct path to express and hone their talent, our attempt through skill enhancement classes is to help them shape the hidden artist in them with the right guidance.” Amandeep Kaur from the Department of Fine Arts stressed on the importance of an artistic bent of mind. During the three-week skill enhancement classes, students learned about techniques of creative portraits, understood the difference between 2D and 3D art other than practising life sketching. Students felt overwhelmed with the sketch and paint classes and described it as a fruitful effort, which will help them to enhance their artistic skill further in life.
