As part of the ‘Ek Din DC/SSP De Sang’ initiative, seven students who secured top positions in the matriculation and senior secondary examinations in Nawanshahr district spent a day with the Deputy Commissioner (DC) and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) today.

The day began with a breakfast at the Deputy Commissioner’s camp office, where the students expressed their excitement and appreciation. Being hosted for the entire day and gaining exposure to the daily professional activities of the Deputy Commissioner and SSP made them feel truly special.

The students shared that they were highly motivated by the guidance and advice offered by the Deputy Commissioner regarding their studies, personal struggles, and career aspirations. The students, who included Twinkle Kaur and Babita Kumari (who secured 97.54% and 96.75% marks, respectively, in matriculation) and Simarjeet Kaur, Harmanpreet Kaur, Ranbir Kaur, Shreya Yadav, and Adarsh Yadav (who achieved 98.6%, 97.6%, 97.6%, 97.2% and 97.4% in senior secondary exams), felt proud of their hard work and accomplishments, which enabled them to spend the day with top bureaucrats.

Interacting with DC Ankurjeet Singh, the students discussed their goals for further studies and their future careers. The Deputy Commissioner shared his personal journey, explaining how hard work during their matriculation, class 11, and senior secondary years would lay a strong foundation for future academic success and competitive exams. He emphasized that the perseverance they demonstrated would pay off in the long run.

The students were also invited to attend various meetings chaired by the Deputy Commissioner and were briefed about the major functions of the District Magistrate’s office. Additionally, they toured several offices within the District Administrative Complex, including the ADC (G) office, D.P.R.O., District Development and Panchayats Offices, DPO, Control Room, Social Security Office, SDM office, Sewa Kendra and other departments. During the tour, their queries were addressed by the respective officials.

In the afternoon, the students met with SSP Dr Mehtab Singh at his office. Dr Mehtab, an MBBS doctor, shared his inspiring journey to becoming an IPS officer. The students were given a detailed tour of the SSP office and had the opportunity to meet and interact with the officials to better understand the working of the police department.
