Keeping in view the convenience of commuters during the shobha yatra to be taken out in connection with the birth anniversary celebrations of Guru Ravidas scheduled on Friday in Phagwara, the traffic police have released a diversion route plan.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Rupinder Kaur Bhatti, while giving details, said the road traffic would be diverted to cross Phagwara without disturbance. Traffic in-charge Inspector Aman Kumar said heavy vehicles coming from the Jalandhar side towards Ludhiana would be diverted from Haveli Dhabha via Jamsher-Zandial-Nurmahal-Phillaur. He said light vehicles would be diverted via Mehtan bypass-Mehli bypass-Basra Palace-Khothran Road-Pipa-Rangi-Onkar Nagar-JCT Mills slip road and towards Goraya.

He said similarly, heavy vehicles from the Ludhiana side going towards Jalandhar would be diverted through Phillaur—Nurmahal-Jandiala-Jalandhar Cantt-Jalandhar city.

He said light vehicles would be diverted from Kherra Gate-Kherra Colony-Gobindpura-Dhyan Singh Colony-Hadiabad-Khandwa-Hardaspur-LPU Gate, towards Jalandhar. He said road traffic from the Nakodar side going towards Phagwara-Hoshiarpur-Nawanshahr side would be diverted via Jandiala-Jamsher-Mehtan bypass-Hoshiarpur towards Nawanshahr.

He said light vehicles would be diverted on Nakodar-Jandiala-Hadiabad-Gandhwan-Mehtan bypass-Bhularai Chowk-Hoshiarpur towards Nawanshahr.

The SP said the police would ensure smooth road traffic on diverted routes, but it could only be possible with the co-operation of commuters who would have to follow traffic rules. The SP also directed the police to ensure adequate arrangements for the shobha yatra on Friday. She along with DSP Jaspreet Singh today visited Shri Ravidas Mandir, Chak Hakim, and took stock of the arrangements made by the administration. She instructed cops to ensure proper traffic management during the shobha yatra. The SP also took a round of the diverted route planned for the commuters.
