DLSA sets up help desks for flood-affected victims

The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar, under the guidance of the Executive Chairman and Member Secretary of the Punjab State Legal Services Authority, carried out an inspection of help desks established for flood-affected victims in the district.

Set up in the villages of Burj Tehl Das and Pandrawal, the desks are designed to provide information on government schemes, address residents’ grievances and assist with essential documentation for those impacted by the floods.

The inspection was led by the District and Sessions Judge-cum-Chairperson of DLSA, Priya Sood and was accompanied by Chief Judicial Magistrate Amandeep, District and Sessions Judge-II Ms Gagandeep Kaur and Chief Judicial Magistrate Shri Mahesh Kumar. Representatives from local NGOs, advocates and para-legal volunteers were also present during the visit.

The officials engaged with victims to ensure adequate support mechanisms were in place. Village Sarpanches and Panchayat members were stationed at the help desks.
