Dr Ashima Taneja, whose in-laws hail from Phagwara, and who serves as the Head of the Gynaecology Department at Dayanand Medical College and Hospital, Ludhiana, has achieved global recognition by securing a place in the International Book of Records for performing the fastest Caesarean section delivery.

The extraordinary achievement took place on September 26, 2024, at a medical facility in Ludhiana, Punjab. Dr Taneja delivered a baby through a skin incision in an astonishing time of just 1 minute and 5 seconds.
