Under the ongoing action against illegal encroachments by drug peddlers, the Municipal Corporation, Jalandhar, in coordination with the Commissionerate Police, on Friday demolished a double-storey building belonging to three drug smugglers. The encroached structure, constructed on government land allegedly using drug money, was razed in the Bhargo Camp locality as part of the ongoing drive to demolish illegal encroachments under "Yudh Nashian Virudh."

Commissioner of Police Dhanpreet Kaur stated that the MC had received information about an illegal construction on government land by notorious drug smugglers Varinder, alias Maula, Jatinder, alias Jinder, and Rohit Kumar, alias Kaka, all brothers, lodged in a jail.

Acting promptly, the MC and police swung into action and demolished the encroached structure, sending a strong message that drug-related activities will not be tolerated in the city.

Pointing out further, the CP stated that the accused are habitual offenders, with a total of 15 cases registering against them under the NDPS Act, Excise Act and other criminal sections. This action marks a significant step in dismantling the financial network of drug peddlers and ensuring accountability.

Varinder has seven cases against him, while Rohit and Jatinder have six and two cases against them.

The Police Commissioner said the operation "Yudh Nashian Virudh" continues to gain momentum, with the authorities vowing strict measures against those involved in drug-related crimes. Similar actions have been taken in the past, including the demolition of illegal structures linked to drug traffickers in Phillaur and Dhankia Mohalla earlier this month.

The Commissionerate Police reaffirmed their commitment to eliminating the drug menace from the society and urged citizens to support their efforts in making Jalandhar drug-free.
