Drive stepped up against traffic violations, eve-teasing

33 challaned, 4 bikes impounded

The Commissionerate Police Jalandhar conducted a special drive against traffic violations and eve-teasing from December 6 to 9 under the leadership of ACP North, Rishabh Bhola. The operation, carried out between 12pm and 3pm, targeted key locations to ensure public safety and create a secure environment, especially for women and young students.

The drive was led by SHO Division Number 1 in collaboration with the Emergency Response System (ERS) and the Field Media Team (FMT). Strategic checkpoints were established near DAVIET College, Kabir Nagar, and Dayanand Ayurvedic College.

During the operation, 320 vehicles were inspected, leading to the issuance of 33 challans for various violations. These included offences such as riding motorcycles with modified silencers, triple riding, riding without helmets, underage driving and the use of black films on vehicle windows. Additionally, four motorcycles were impounded for lacking documentation.

“The initiative aimed to address growing concerns over traffic indiscipline and the safety of women and students in public spaces. By tackling these issues, the police sought to reinforce a culture of accountability and ensure a secure atmosphere for all residents”, said ACP North Rishabh Bhola.

He said this drive reflected the proactive approach of the Commissionerate Police Jalandhar in safeguarding the community through sustained efforts to promote road safety and curb harassment. He reiterated the police commitment to such measures, emphasising their resolve to uphold law and order across the city.
