Drug cartel busted, 258 gm of heroin seized
In a crackdown on drug trafficking, the Jalandhar Commissionerate Police has arrested a key suspect and seized 258 gram of heroin from his possession.
Commissioner of Police Swapan Sharma said the operation was launched based on specific intelligence about heroin smuggling in the city.
Acting on a tip-off, police teams laid a trap near Kaki Gurdwara Sahib in Jalandhar, where they intercepted a suspect identified as Rajpal, alias Pali, a resident of Ravidas Colony.
Upon searching him, officers found 52 gram of heroin in his possession, leading to his immediate arrest. A case was registered.
During questioning, Pali reportedly disclosed information about a larger drug trafficking operation, prompting the police to expand their investigation. Acting on his confession, a police team recovered an additional 206 gram of heroin from a concealed location near Dillwan village.
Commissioner Sharma stated that the police were now focusing on identifying and apprehending other members of the drug network. "Investigators suspect that the arrested person was working as part of a well-organised supply chain operating across different regions," he added.
He added that efforts were underway to dismantle the entire network and prevent further drug-related activities in Jalandhar.
The police have urged citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to help curb the drug menace in the city.
