Jalandhar, February 19
The Jalandhar Police Commissionerate has busted a racket involved in smuggling of drugs with the arrest of a person. The police also recovered 200 grams of heroin from his possession.

Police Commissioner Swapan Sharma said a case under Sections 21, 61 and 85 of the NDPS Act was registered against the suspect at the Rama Mandi police station. Further investigations were on in the case.
Police Commissioner Swapan Sharma said the police had got a tip-off that a gang involved in drug peddling was operative in the city. After getting information, the police laid a trap near Joginder Nagar T-point in Rama Mandi. The police intercepted a Toyota Innova SUV bearing registration number PB-08-ED-0214 coming from the Hoshiarpur side.
The Police Commissioner said during search, the police recovered 200 grams of heroin from the vehicle. The police arrested the car driver identified as Rohit Kumar of Mohalla Jaswant Nagar, Tarn Taran.
The CP said a case under Sections 21, 61 and 85 of the NDPS Act was registered against the suspect at the Rama Mandi police station. Further investigations were on in the case.
