Drunk assailants injure man, kin near bus stand
Jalandhar, March 4
Three persons suffered injuries after being assaulted by five ‘drunk’ assailants during an altercation near the bus stand late last night.
Among those who suffered injuries were two brothers, who operate a kiosk adjacent to gate number 5 of the bus stand.
Vinod Kumar, owner of the kiosk, said a confrontation ensued when an auto-rickshaw driver approached him and started misbehaving. When he opposed, the driver summoned his associates.
He said the auto driver asked for a cigarette. He later started abusing him. When he objected, the suspect called his associates who attacked him.
When Vinod’s brother and son intervened, the assailants attacked them also. The suspects later fled the spot.
The police said the motive behind the clash was not clear yet. They were scrutinising CCTV footage of nearby establishments to identify the suspects.
