On November 10, it was the eighth anniversary ‘Avtar Radio’, which is the first community radio of rural areas. Senior journalist Jatinder Pannu congratulated the staff of the community radio. Expressing concerns regarding destruction of environment in the name of development, he warned against mad run for profits. He said 40 years of development has destroyed environment and culture of the state. He said we revere Guru Nanak Dev, but we don’t adhere to his message. Avtar Radio’s first director Harpreet Singh Kahlon said pursuing quality journalism remained a challenge even in present times. Author Prof Asa Singh Ghumman said Avtar Radio had brought environment awakening in the region.
ADMN offers Loans for youth
Kapurthala administration has taken a unique initiative to provide self-employment to youngsters. DC Deepti Uppal said in order to assist youth, loans shall be provided under the ‘Mudra Yojna’ and ‘Stamp India’. The Deputy Commissioner said loans to young people are often being denied on the basis of small objections due to which their ventures fail to grow. She said those trained under the District Employment and Entrprenurship Bureau shall be able to apply online and fill a google form on http//bit.ly/self-employment-kpt. She said the code is available on the bureau’s social media account. Uppal instrsucted the employment bureau to immediately forward applications to the department concerned or lead manager. A helpline number 98882-19247 has been released for those wishing to apply.
