Jalandhar: Eklavya School organised and celebrated Human Rights Day on the campus. The students of kindergarten were imparted lessons to imbibe virtues such as co-operation, respect and inclusion through human rights. The discussion also affirmed the importance of duties and responsibilities of members of society. A video was shown to the students, explaining human rights and the relevance of each article of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. School director Seema Handa said, “When we celebrate Human Rights Day, we are taking the time to honour that significant achievement, while at the same time recognising that there are many parts of the world.” Principal Komal Arora told the students to remember that any change they want to see in the world and in their school must begin with them.
Tagore’s Int’l Smart School
Talent Hunt Baby Show, 2023, was organised for the students of nursery and kindergarten in Tagore’s International Smart School. Dr Gurinderjit Kaur (Principal, GSSS Nehru Garden) and Harnek Singh, advocate, were the chief guests. Abhay Kumar Jain, chairman, Tagore Educational Society, Vinod Shashi Jain, dean, and director Ruchika Jain attended the event. Qawwali and welcome dance were presented by the students. All three schools of Tagore Educational Society – Tagore International Smart School, Tagore Public High School, Tagore Day Boarding Senior Secondary Public School – participated in the event. The baby show was organised in three categories and students showcased their talent in solo dance, fancy dress and modelling. From pre-nursery to KG-I, Tisha Bhagat won the first position, followed by Angad Singh and Shaurya. A total of 10 consolation prizes were awarded in each category. Sa Re Ga Ma Pa competition runners-up Harsh Sikander also performed in the event. Raffle draws were also conducted.
State Public School
State Public School, Jalandhar Cantt, organised a Spelling Bee competition for classes I to VIII. Barlindeep of Class I, Lovisha of Class II, Gulbarg of Class III, Navriti of Class IV, Sneha of Class V, Jhanvi of Class VI, Prabhjot of Class VII and Dalia of Class VIII bagged the first positions. They were honoured with trophies in the morning assembly. President of Group of State Public Schools Dr Narotam Singh, vice-president Dr Gagandeep Kaur and Principal Savina Bahl congratulated the winners. TNS
Muskaan School
Amritsar: Students of Muskaan, a school for special children by Bhavans, participated in the 24th Punjab State Special Olympics, competing in various sporting events. Students won several medals, including a gold medal, four silver medals and three bronze medals. In the 50m race, Eknoor won gold and Mannat secured a silver medal. In softball, Mannat won silver and Anushka, Sonia and Eknoor won bronze medals. Principal Dr Anita Bhalla and chairman Avinash Mahendru congratulated the winners.
Spring Dale Senior School
It was a proud moment for Spring Dale Senior School as the school team won during the regional-cluster level round of the prestigious ‘CBSE Heritage Quiz’ held in Chandigarh. Sahiljit Singh Sandhu, chairman, Spring Dale Educational Society, said the school’s quiz team comprising Raghuvansh Wadhwa of Class XI, Gursidak Kaur Boparai of Class X and Nitya Singhania of Class XII secured the top position and made it to the finals, to be held in Delhi. Sandhu said the students registered an impressive victory by trouncing 30 teams from all across the region to make it to the top slot. Principal Rajiv Kumar Sharma congratulated the winners and said reaching the nationals is a recognition of the emphasis on competency based education promoted in the school, providing the students an edge over rote learning.
Excelsum High Sr Secondary School
Excelsum High Senior Secondary School celebrated its annual sports day with great verve and camaraderie. The programme began with a welcome song, which was followed by a march past. Afterwards, various races were conducted for the students, along with athletics like taekwondo, dumbbells, lazium, yoga, PT drill, hooplas and dandiya. Chief guest Sushil Kumar Tuli, DEO (SE), Amritsar, presided over the event and felicitated the winners.
