A devastating road accident occurred on the Sultanpur Lodhi-Goindwal Sahib road near village Mangupur, involving a collision between a car and a motorcycle. The motorcycle was being ridden by an elderly man and his wife was riding pillion. They sustained critical injuries in the crash.
An emergency team from the road safety force arrived promptly at the scene and rushed the injured to the Civil Hospital in Sultanpur Lodhi. Unfortunately, doctors declared both dead on arrival.
Preliminary reports suggest that the couple was on their way to Goindwal to purchase medicines. As they attempted to turn their motorcycle to a petrol pump near Talwandi Chaudhrian ahead of Mangupur, they were struck by a speeding car from behind. The impact proved fatal, and the victims succumbed to their injuries.
The deceased have been identified as retired Subedar Fakir Singh, 73, and his wife Balbir Kaur, 71, residents of Paramjitpur (Aloopur) in Sultanpur Lodhi. The police from Talwandi Chaudhrian station have taken the car driver into custody and stated that legal action will follow based on the statements of the family.
Major car collision on Jalandhar-Ludhiana NH
Two cars collided near the Civil Hospital flyover on the Jalandhar–Ludhiana national highway. The impact was so severe that both vehicles overturned on the road.
Both drivers sustained serious injuries and were immediately rushed to the Civil Hospital, Phagwara. One of the injured Rahul stated that he was travelling from Jalandhar towards Chandigarh when a speeding SUV rammed into his car from behind.
The police reached the spot shortly, arranged for the injured to be admitted to the hospital, and cleared the vehicles from the highway to restore traffic movement. Despite the intensity of the crash, no lives were lost.
