In a significant development, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has voiced deep concern over the deteriorating health of prominent farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal, who is on fast-unto-death.
BJP national farmer leader Sukhminderpal Singh Grewal and BJP spokesman Sarchand Singh Khyala have urged the Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Raghbir Singh to intervene and persuade Dallewal to end his hunger strike.
Talking to The Tribune here on Thursday evening, he said he had gone along with a delegation and handed over a memorandum at the Akal Takht secretariat. Grewal said he recently met Dallewal at Khanauri border and appealed to him to end his fast-unto-death.
The BJP leader reiterated his party’s commitment to finding a resolution to the farmers’ issues. “This is not a battle between India and Pakistan, it’s a matter of ensuring justice for our farmers,” he said.
