Keeping in view the ensuing Lok Sabha elections, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Urban Development)-cum-District Nodal Officer of Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) Jasbir Singh today asked district officers to speed up the activities to increase the voting percentage in the district.

After a videoconference with the Additional Chief Electoral Officer at the District Administrative Complex here, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Urban Development)-cum-District Nodal Officer of Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) Jasbir Singh issued necessary directions to the officers to prepare a detailed strategy regarding the conduct of Assembly-level SVEEP activities to ensure maximum voter participation in the elections.

Laying special emphasis on increasing voting percentage of youths, women, PwD and urban voters, the ADC said special SVEEP activities should be carried out to achieve the goal of maximum voter turnout among these sections through motivation. He also asked the officials to include district SVEEP icons in these activities.
He directed the officials to make special efforts to increase the vote percentage by reaching out to polling locations where vote percentage was lower during the previous elections.
Earlier, the ADC participated in the meeting held by the Chief Electoral Officer, Punjab, through videoconference and informed about the SVEEP activities being conducted in the district. The ADC also said special attention should be paid to ensure over 70 per cent voter turnout during the Lok Sabha elections.
