Equestrian festival concludes: Punjab riders shine with multiple medals

The Punjab Equestrian Festival, organised by the Department of Tourism and Culture, concluded on Sunday after three days of spectacular sporting action from November 14-16. With over 90 horses participating from across India, the event showcased exceptional horsemanship, competitive spirit, and growing enthusiasm for equestrian sports in the region.

Punjab riders delivered an impressive performance across multiple categories: Punjab Police Riders DIG Inderbir Singh secured a bronze medal in Show-Jumping riding Sheeshah. Inspector Youngbir Singh earned a bronze medal in Dressage (Elementary) on Badal. Head Constable Sandeep Singh won a bronze medal in Show Jumping.

Riders from the PAP Horse Riding Club also stood out during the festival. Sahib Inderdeep Singh, clinched the gold medal in the Hacks Open category, Diyansh Sharma secured a bronze medal in Hacks Open, Suhani Kaur Bhutani earned a bronze medal in Hacks Ladies, Anavbir Singh won a bronze medal in the Pole Bending event and Mankirat Singh impressed with two bronze medals in Show Jumping.

Officials highlighted that the festival aims to promote equestrian sports in Punjab and provide a platform for young and experienced riders to compete at national standards. The strong turnout and competitive performances are seen as a growing interest in horse riding and related disciplines across the state.

The festival concluded with prize distributions and appreciation for all participants, marking another successful edition of the Punjab Equestrian Festival in Mohali.

Recently, the Punjab Police Equestrian Team also delivered an outstanding performance at the Masters International Tent Pegging Championship, held at Ghaziabad from November 10 to 12, bringing home multiple medals and making Punjab proud on the national stage.
