Ex-PM IK Gujral remembered

The faculty and students of IK Gujral Punjab Technical University (IKGPTU) on Saturday paid homage to Ex-Prime Minister Inder Kumar Gujral on his seventh death anniversary here. The public relations department of the varsity organised a programme ‘Tribute to Tender Heart’ to mark the occasion.
Vice-Chancellor of the varsity Prof Ajay Kumar Sharma while addressing the gathering said: “Gujral Ji was one of the personalities who were devoted to educate the nation. We are proud Indians just because of our mentors who dedicated their lives for the country and its development.”
Dr Sukhbir Singh Walia, Registrar, IKGPTU, said it was in the year 2015 that the state government rechristened Punjab Technical University as the IKGPTU in the honour of the former PM.
Rajneesh Kumar Sharma, public relations officer, shared a note on the relationship of Gujral with Jalandhar and the media. He shared the fact that during the emergency period of June 1975, Gujral was the Minister of Information and Broadcasting, and also the in-charge of the media during the time of censorship in the country. He also shared about his works as the in-charge of Doordarshan.
Dean RIC Dr AP Singh, deputy registrar Sunil Kumar, faculty members Reetipal Singh, Gagandeep Kaur, Dr Kapil Gupta, assistant registrar Sandeep Mehmi and Devinder Kumar were also present.
