During the activity, the children made a tree of their family pictures and said they live together as a family. They prepared a tree with the help of teachers and put photographs of their grandparents, parents and siblings on it. Happy Family Play was presented by some children. During the play, they stated how the whole family lives together under one roof and shares every happiness and sorrow among themselves. Principal Hari Om explained to children that the family plays a very important role in the upbringing of a child. When the child is deprived of the love of the family, he has to face many problems, he said. CEO Monica Mandotra said the family is a small world of every person in which he learns a lot.
28 new-age certificate courses
Kanya Maha Vidyalaya is introducing 28 new-age add-on certificate courses to add value to degrees of students. This type of skill-based vocational courses is in sync with the New Education Policy of India at the undergraduate level. Most of these certificate courses are skill based and aligned with Sector Skill Council, NSDC (Govt. of India) and are certified & valid internationally. Throwing more light on it, Principal Atima Sharma Dwivedi averred that KMV offers a wide range of new skill development certificate courses, aimed at improving technical and academic skills in the students. The courses include retail sales associate, domestic data entry operator, graphic designer, assistant fashion designer, self-employed tailor, make-up artist, commercial art, banking and mental ability, nursery development and management, health fitness, chemistry for entrepreneurship and production, psychotherapy, native app development using Kotlin Android, data management and care, digital banking, quantitative aptitude and reasoning, Vedic mathematics and many more. Minimum eligibility for these certificate courses is 10 2 and these courses can be opted by students along with their regular degree or they can enroll for these certificate courses only. These certificate courses are being offered at minimal fees as these courses will provide support to students for skill training and certification. These courses are also designed to demonstrate the highest standards of skills and offers a platform to young people to showcase their talent at the national and international levels. Prof Dwivedi said these initiatives will about bring positive changes because these courses will enable the students to be job ready and will upgrade their skills for better placements.
Stress on creating Skilled workforce
Envisioning a future belonging to the skilled workforce, Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya, Jalandhar, is a top-notch institution offering various skill courses under Kaushal Kendra. Three M Voc programmes – Web Technology and Multimedia, Cosmetology and Wellness, Mental Health Counselling. Eight B.Voc programmes – Banking and Financial Services, Web Technology and Multimedia, Cosmetology and Wellness, Fashion Technology, Journalism and Mass Communication, Mental Health Counselling, E-Commerce and Digital Marketing, Yoga and Fitness. Eight Diploma Programmes – Fashion Designing, Applied Music and Dance, Journalism and Mass Communication, Tourism and Hospitality, Cooking and Catering Management, Organic Farming, Communication Skills, Nanny and Elderly Health Care are running successfully. Principal Prof Ajay Sareen apprised that aspirants of any age group with 10 2 qualification can opt for any of B.Voc and Diploma Courses. She further emphasised that syllabi of these courses have been designed in consultation with representatives of Sector Skill Councils and industry partners in order to bridge the industry-academia gap according to particular job role. Proper industry exposure is provided to the students through onsite training and interaction with industry experts. The college has signed MOU with more than 100 Industry partners and nine Sector Skill Councils. There is a provision of horizontal and vertical mobility in these courses with multiple entry and exit. After completion of one-year diploma, two-year advance diploma and three-year degree is awarded, credits are properly stored in academic bank as per NEP-2020. Meenakshi Sayal, Coordinator, Community College, explained that students will relish dual advantage- degree from University and Certification from Sector Skill Council.
Eight get Placement in mnc
Eight Electronics and Communication and Information Technology students of DAV Institute of Engineering and Technology (DAVIET) were selected by an MNC, Multinational Giant Ericsson, at a salary package of 4.50 lakh per annum. The company has selected the students after rigorous rounds comprising online tests, coding tests, and technical and HR interviews. While giving the offer details, the ecstatic student shared that his designation in the company would be Associate Engineer. Their responsibility will be to develop highly scalable applications serving client needs. The selected students are Mayank Vij (ECE), Akash Singh Tomar (ECE), Karan Balu (ECE), Ritvik Sharma (ECE), Sushant Dogra (ECE), Nandan Singh (ECE), Umika Khera (IT) and Gaurang Prashar (IT) had shared that they were mindful of the tough competition and started preparing early. In addition to the core engineering skills, they also brushed up their soft skills. In addition, they learned networking and coding skills. Dr Manoj Kumar, Principal, DAVIET, congratulated the students on their success. He wished them best of luck in all their future endeavours. He highlighted that DAVIETians have always been passionate about placements, and special efforts are being made to make them industry-ready.
Yellow Day celebrated
Yellow Day was celebrated in St. Soldier Divine Public School. The main objective was to make the students aware of the importance of yellow colour. The special thing about the day, celebrated under the leadership of Principal Shaili Bhalla, was that all students wore yellow clothes to the school. Apart from this, the students also brought yellow-coloured food items with them. On the occasion, vice-chairperson Sangeeta Chopra said yellow colour is a symbol of happiness. A dance programme was also organised for the students on the occasion, during which little ones danced on the film songs.
Discussion on folk arts
Apeejay College of Fine Arts organised a discussion on the folk arts of Punjab and other states of India. The discussion was conducted by the PG department of Fine Arts and it focused on the important contribution needed in making fine arts of India dear to the public, its protection and promotion. In the discussion, Prof Ram Viranjan, Dean of visual and performing arts of Kurukshetra University, Prof Ram Viranjan and member of the Fine Arts department of Maharishi Dayanand University. Dr Meenakshi were present as the resource persons. Principal Dr Neerja while congratulating the audience said India is a country of various arts, cultures and languages, where the essence of unity is contained in its diversity. She further said that for the promotion and propagation of fine arts, national and international level exhibitions are organized in the college and along with it art is also devoted and dedicated to the internationally eminent artists. Prof Ram Viranjan while expressing his views on contemporary Punjabi fine arts to Anil Gupta, Dr Rimpi Agarwal, Dr Gagan Gambhir and Madam Amandeep said these classes remain alive only when they are passed on to future generations in its original form. He mentioned that the dedication and the enthusiasm with which APJ College is working for the protection, preservation and promotion of fine arts is the reason its name is a pioneer among the fine arts colleges of North India. Meenakshi Hooda said in painting, sculpture and wall painting, the work of the college is definitely the best. Prof Ramvirjan also appreciated the research work done by Dr Rimpi Aggarwal and praised her work of the pictures engraved in the handwritten birth-sarkhi of Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji and the work done on Sikh Art School of Punjab, and said that such lively paintings always win hearts and have a long term effect on the spectator. The Principal thanked both the resource persons for sharing their important ideas in the field of fine arts.
