In order to dispose of the pending cases in Office of Assistant Labour Commissioner (ALC), a fast track court will be organised for the first time. The fast track court will begin from May 13.

The court will be organised on every Tuesday from 3.30 pm onwards and will function parallel to the normal court hours. Office of the Assistant Labour Commissioner has identified the cases which are pending for more than two years now and these cases shall now be dealt in the fast-track mode.

In the first phase, 12 cases under The Payment of Gratuity Act, 1972, pending for more than two years have been identified. Subsequently, applications pending for more than two years under The Employees Compensation Act, 1923, The Payment of Wages Act, 1936, and The Minimum Wages Act, 1948, shall also be dealt in the similar manner. Hearings will be done on weekly basis by the ALC and the proceedings shall be time bound.

This step has been taken to ensure swift dispensation of justice and welfare of labourers.
