Harvinder Singh, Fauja Singh's son, told The Tribune, "My sister has already arrived, and my brother will reach today. The cremation will be held thereafter. The family is devastated."

He further added that the family of the accused had also visited him. "They came to see me yesterday and offered their condolences. They said the accused panicked after the incident, which is why he fled the scene," Harvinder said.

In one of his past interviews with media, Fauja Singh had shared that he remained active by walking daily within his village. "I avoid going on the roads as it can be dangerous, so I stay within the village," he had said.
