Fire breaks out in footwear factory

A fire broke out at a footwear factory at Baldev Nagar in Basti Danishmanda area. The incident was reported late at the night after the Kawa Chauth celebrations.
Raw material comprising rubber and plastic was stored in the factory that was situated in a residential colony. Residents claimed footwear, especially slippers, were manufactured in the factory. The flames were first spotted in the terrace of the double-storied factory after a plastic material caught fire. ASI Kuldeep Singh, who reached the spot said the fire broke out after a sky lantern paper dropped on the terrace and the plastic caught fire. There was no casualty, neither any loss of goods, but the fire spread on the terrace within minutes causing a commotion.
With the help of area residents, the fire brigade reached the spot immediately and completely controlled the blaze in an hour. Reportedly, three fire tenders were deployed to extinguish the flames.
Ravi Kumar, a resident, said a similar incident took place recently in the area.
