A massive fire broke out in a local tent house, quickly spreading to a nearby residential building in Sultanpur Lodhi. The blaze, which erupted in the afternoon, sent thick plumes of smoke and left residents scrambling to safety.
According to witnesses, the flames spread rapidly, engulfing stored goods and threatening adjacent properties. The family, living in the adjoining house, managed to escape unharmed after being alerted to the danger, immediately evacuating and informing the fire staff.
A firefighting team arrived at the scene without delay, launching a strenuous two-hour operation to bring the fire under control. Despite their efforts, the warehouse’s contents comprising a large stock of tent house equipment were destroyed. The loss has been estimated at over Rs 15 lakh.
The warehouse owner said the cause of the fire remained unknown. He explained that much of his inventory had been procured on credit, making the financial blow. “I barely escaped the fire myself,” he said, appealing to the government for compensation to recover from the loss.
The authorities confirmed that there were no casualties and investigation is underway to determine the reason of the blaze. The incident has reignited discussions about fire safety preparedness in densely built localities and the vulnerability of small business owners to sudden disasters.
