Five drug smugglers held in separate raids

In a series of operations aimed at combating street crime and drug traffickers, the Jalandhar Rural Police have detained 5 persons in 24 hours across all sub-divisions of Jalandhar Rural and filed four FIRs. Police teams have recovered up to 150 narcotics pills, 50 gm heroin, and Rs 4,800 drug money.

The arrested accused have been identified as Palwinder Singh, alias Sona, from village Cheema, Kartarpur; Amardeep, alias Harman, from Mehatpur; Vishal from Athaula, Lambra and Balbir Singh, alias Bira, from SBS Nagar.

SSP Harkamal Preet Singh Khakh said special police teams were formed under SP, Investigation, Jasroop Kaur Bath to control street crime and drug smuggling from the grassroot level.

The SSP said the Kartarpur police detained a teenager at a naka and recovered 30 narcotics pills. Secondly, the Mehatpur police apprehended a man who used to steal items from fruit vendors and they had also arrested a notorious thief, targeting isolated houses to steal valuables. A police party nabbed him and recovered an AC from his possession.

Thirdly, Lambra police teams detained another man with 110 narcotic pills who was planning to sell them and recovered Rs 2,500 drug money.

Lastly, the Phillaur police apprehended one drug smuggler at a check point who was transporting heroin in his car. Upon verifying, the police team recovered 50 gram heroin.
