Flag march in Phagwara to infuse sense of security among residents

In a proactive move to enhance public safety and maintain law and order during the Diwali celebrations, the Phagwara police conducted a comprehensive flag march across various parts of the city on Sunday and Monday night. The initiative was aimed at instilling a sense of security among residents and deterring anti-social elements during the festive season, when markets and public spaces witness heightened activity.

The flag march was led by Superintendent of Police (SP) Madhavi Sharma, accompanied by Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Bharat Bhushan, Inspector Aman Kumar Daveshwar, and Station House Officer (SHO) Usha Rani. A large contingent of police personnel from multiple police stations of the subdivision participated in the exercise, showcasing the department’s preparedness to ensure peace and safety during the celebrations.

The march commenced from the SP office and passed through key routes of the city, including Banga Road, Jhatkaiyan Chowk, Kulatham Chowk, Subhash Chowk, and Hargobind Nagar Chowk -areas known for their dense commercial activity and festive gatherings. Residents observed the disciplined movement of the police force, which sent out a strong message of vigilance and reassurance.

Speaking on the occasion, SP Madhavi Sharma emphasised that the purpose of the flag march was to instil public confidence and ensure that citizens feel secure while celebrating the festival of lights. She reiterated the department’s commitment to maintaining peace and harmony across Phagwara and its adjoining areas.

DSP Bharat Bhushan said strict instructions were issued to all police officials to remain on high alert during the festive period. Regular patrols, checkpoints and intensive area monitoring would be carried out to prevent any untoward incidents. Police teams would maintain close coordination to respond swiftly to any emergencies, he said. Sharma urged the public to cooperate with law enforcement agencies and report any suspicious activities to ensure a safe and joyous festival for all.
