As part of the campaign launched against drug abuse by the police in the district, a naka was laid at the inter-state check-post in Ramgarh Sikri on Saturday evening.

Talwara police station in-charge Inspector Pramod Kumar said Assistant Sub-Inspector Vipan Kumar signalled a car to stop at the naka at the Ramgarh Sikri check-post, but instead of halting the vehicle its driver drove towards Talwara-Hajipur road that leads to Himachal Pradesh.

On seeing the driver fleeing in his car, the police blocked the road at Chaudhary Gyan Singh Chowk in Talwara. Once again, the police signalled the driver to stop the car. But, the driver swiftly turned the car towards Hajipur and the police started chasing the vehicle. While fleeing, the driver lost control over the car and it crashed into a roadside tree near Bhode Da Khuh on the Talwara-Hajipur road. After the crash, the driver fled while leaving the car on the spot.
