Football club celebrates International Childhood Cancer Day
Following the guidelines of Civil Surgeon, Nawanshahr, and the Youth Services Department, the Daily Morning Football Club celebrated International Childhood Cancer Day (February 15) today. The day was celebrated under the leadership of Daily Morning Football Club president Ajay Mehra at the football ground near RK Arya College.
Speaking on the occasion, Tarsem Lal, Deputy Group Education and Information Officer, said that the theme of International Childhood Cancer Day 2025 was “United by Unique”. Cancer cannot be defeated by treatment alone, it is a battle that has to be fought together with people and eradicated from the root, he said.
Dr Amit Kumar, in his speech, said that lump in the chest, constant cough and hoarseness in voice, excessive bleeding during menstruation, bleeding other than menstruation, non-healing mouth ulcers could be the symptoms of cancer. He said that use of tobacco and alcohol, not undergoing timely medical check-ups and consumption of high-fat food are among the causes of cancer.
Lal informed that under the Punjab Chief Minister’s Cancer Relief Fund scheme, residents of the state have the facility of cashless treatment up to Rs 1.5 lakh.
