Lovely Professional University (LPU) celebrated its 11th annual convocation on Sunday with former Australian prime minister Tony Abbott as the chief guest. He was also conferred an honorary doctorate.

During the event, 102 gold medallists, 555 PhD scholars and 567 meritorious students were recognised. The ceremony also marked the graduation of LPU’s first batch of ‘online mode students’ while over 60,000 students graduated.

Abbott expressed admiration for India and urged the students to take pride in their nation’s potential to bring peace and prosperity to the world. He encouraged the students to utilise the confidence instilled in them through their degrees to make a positive impact on society.

LPU Chancellor Ashok Kumar Mittal presided over the event. Students and parents from various states and countries like Canada, Australia, Bhutan, etc, graced the occasion.
