Former student falls off 9th floor of building at private varsity, dies

A 23-year-old former student of a private university died after falling from a building on the campus, police said on Sunday.

According to sources, Akanksha SN, a native of Bengaluru, who had been working at a private firm in Delhi, visited the university on Saturday afternoon to meet a faculty member. The incident occurred when she fell from the 9th floor of a building.

Preliminary reports suggest that the incident has been ruled as a suicide. The body has been sent for postmortem, and the deceased's family has been notified.

Kapurthala SSP Gaurav Toora stated, “The deceased was not currently a student at the university. She was working at a private firm in Delhi and had graduated earlier. She was visiting the university on Saturday when the incident occurred. At this stage, there is no evidence of foul play, and further investigations are ongoing.”

Satnampura SHO Hardeep Singh said that the postmortem report is awaited, and the police are waiting for Akanksha’s parents to arrive to record their formal statements.
