Jalandhar, February 22
Member of Parliament Santokh Singh Chaudhary and local MLAs on Monday laid the foundation stones of development projects worth Rs41.07 crore in different parts of the city as Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh presided over the virtual launch from Chandigarh.
“The projects would fulfil the long pending demands of people of the city. Jalandhar is going to see transformational change thanks to your vision and leadership for which people and I are extremely grateful,” he told Capt during the ceremony.
The projects include installation of 15 MLD Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) at Basti Peer Dad at a cost of Rs20.61 crore, which would provide relief to citizens of Jalandhar North and West constituencies, upgrade and beautification of Jalandhar city railway station at Rs6.26 crore, installation of waste management plant of 100 tonnes per day capacity at Gadaipur at Rs8.09 crore, safety and security measures for Rainak Bazaar street using utility duct for overhanging electrical wires at Rs4.02 crore, and digitisation of Guru Nanak Dev Library at Rs2.09 crore.
After the launch ceremony, MP Chaudhary laid the foundation stones of STP and railway station upgrade projects accompanied by MLAs Bawa Henry and Rajinder Beri, Mayor Jagdish Raja and Municipal Corporation Commissioner Karnesh Sharma. MLA Rajinder Beri formally launched the digitisation project at Guru Nanak Dev Library and upgrade of open power line distribution system project at Rainak Bazaar. MLA Bawa Henry laid the foundation stone of waste management plant at Gadaipur in the presence of Municipal Corporation Commissioner Karnesh Sharma.
