In an effort to protect children from mosquito-borne diseases, the Hoshiarpur district administration, under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner Aashika Jain, launched a large-scale fumigation drive across government schools and Anganwadi centres.
The campaign, led by SDM Hoshiarpur Gursimranjit Kaur, saw active participation from local volunteers and Home Guards. On Monday and Tuesday, fumigation was carried out in 31 institutions, including Government Senior Secondary Schools at Chohal, Kharkan, Ajjowal, Naru Nangal, Chabbewal and several High Schools and Anganwadi centres.
SDM Gursimranjit Kaur emphasised that the primary objective of the initiative is to create a healthy and safe environment for both students and teachers. She assured that the fumigation process would continue in the coming days to cover all schools and Anganwadi centres across the district.
Deputy Commissioner Aashika Jain appreciated the efforts of the administration and volunteers, highlighting that the safety and well-being of students is the district’s top priority. “The selfless service of volunteers and Home Guards is the backbone of this initiative,” she said, stressing the importance of ensuring a safe learning environment for children.
