At the full dress rehearsal for Independence Day held at Guru Gobind Singh Stadium this morning, a faux pas was made by Additional DGP Parveen Sinha.

Just as DC Himanshu Aggarwal was about to reach the venue and was scheduled to hoist the Tricolour, Sinha had already played his part. The DC, who came dressed up in a multi-coloured Rajasthani-style turban for the event, was reportedly taken aback at the move.

Even though it will be CM Bhagwant Mann, who is scheduled to hoist the flag on I-Day at the venue, the chief guest’s part is usually played by the DC or any other senior official from the civil administration on the full dress rehearsal.

The miffed DC reportedly did not even board the jeep for inspecting the guard of honour. Sinha, Commissioner of Police Swapan Sharma, Joint Commissioner of Police Sandeep Sharma and ADC Amit Mahajan took a round on the jeep.

The DC, however, got some pictures clicked later near the flag post and with the participants of the cultural show. Sinha said, “It was just a role play that I did during the rehearsal. There was absolutely no other objective”.
