Several household items, jewellery, and cash were allegedly stolen after burglars broke into the residence of a police employee.
According to the complaint filed by Manpreet Kaur, who works as a Safai Sewak at the city police station, she and her husband, Parvinder Singh — an employee at the Dana Mandi, Kapurthala — had locked their home around 9 am before leaving for their duties. Kaur stated that she returned home around 5 pm, discovering that the main lock of the quarter was still intact, but the internal cupboards were found ransacked.
She also noticed that the balcony door latch and protective grill had been broken. Upon checking the house, Kaur reported that gold earrings weighing nearly 2 gram, her daughter’s silver bangles and anklets, one gold chain, one silver chain, Rs 5,000, and an Apple mobile phone belonging to her brother Akashdeep Singh were missing.
The complainant stated that Akashdeep, an employee in Moga district, had been staying with them at the time. Police officials confirmed that an FIR has been registered under Section 454 and 380, IPC, based on her statement.
According to preliminary findings, unidentified miscreants allegedly broke the latch and grill of the balcony door to gain entry into the quarter and subsequently fled with the valuables.
