Punjab Governor VP Singh Badnore today felicitated Deputy Commissioner-cum-president, District Red Cross Society, Varinder Kumar Sharma, as the district has bagged the second position in voluntary blood donation across the state. The trophy was bestowed upon during a function held at Mahatama Gandhi State Institute of Public Administration during the annual general meet of the Indian Red Cross Society, Punjab branch.
The Governor lauded the role being played by the Red Cross societies in serving weaker sections of society. He also asked DCs to launch a statewide campaign to generate awareness regarding activities of the State Red Cross in mitigating the suffering of the needy, adding that DCs must work out a timetable for imparting training and make adequate arrangements for the first-aid training in each district.
Meanwhile, the DC said this recognition had filled the district administration with greater commitment to serve people with far more humility and dedication in future.
