A grenade-like object was hurled at the house of a YouTuber, Navdeep Sandhu, based at Raipur Rasoolpur village in Jalandhar, in the wee hours of Sunday.

Thereafter, in a video, Pakistani gangster-cum-social media influencer Shehzad Bhatti claimed “responsibility” for the incident, alleging that Navdeep had made objectionable comments against the Muslim community on social media.

Denying that it was an “attack”, the Jalandhar (Rural) police claimed that it was merely a “fame war” between the two YouTubers, in the course of which one of the parties was just attempting to "rake in views" by generating a controversy.

YouTuber Navdeep Sandhu runs a YouTube handle by the name of Rozer Sandhu. The grenade-like object was found hurled on the balcony of Sandhu's house.

While posting the video, the Pakistani gangster warned of "bigger action" in future, if the YouTuber is not arrested.

Bhatti also claimed that gangsters Zeeshan Akhtar (Baba Siddique murder mastermind) and US-based terrorist Happy Passia helped him in the attack.

A team of the Jalandhar (Rural) police, led by SSP Gurmeet Singh, rushed to the spot and began a probe.

In the video, Bhatti says, "The ‘grenade’ was thrown in Punjab's Jalandhar because he (Navdeep Sandhu) was abusing my Khana-e-kaba, my Islam and my Nabis. If he survives, we will do it again. I thank my brothers Zeeshan Akhtar and Happy Passia who helped me. There are five persons. If you want no blood shed, if you want peace, arrest them. I will give you their names and photos. If you don't, I will wreak such havoc that their seven generations will remember. I've made the video so that if anyone abuses Islam in future, we will take bigger action against them."

Kartarpur DSP Surinder Pal said, "No gangster is involved in the incident. It is just a ‘fame war’ between two YouTubers. Navdeep Sandhu is a YouTuber and a Tik Toker who keeps posting content on social media. The other side has also been posting videos and the two were also involved in public spats via social media earlier. Further investigation is on."

Meanwhile, Navdeep also released a video claiming the attack was done for fame and denied posting content against Islam.

DIG, Jalandhar Range, Naveen Singla said, "There was some professional rivalry, owing to which a grenade-like object was hurled at social media influencer Rozer Sandhu’s house in Jalandhar, for which Pakistani gangster-cum-social media influencer Sehzad Bhatti has ‘taken responsibility’. The case seems to be a matter of an old rivalry between the two YouTubers. A metal object was hurled at the house, which was not a grenade. There was no blast. The object has been sent for forensic examination."

Responding to claims on the involvement of gangsters Zeeshan Akhtar and Happy Passi in the incident, the DIG said, "We are investigating about the claim. So far, it seems to be an incident primarily to generate a scare, and not a serious attack. An FIR will be lodged after the statement of Rozer Sandhu is recorded."
