Groom locked in banquet hall

Relatives of the bride and village residents on Friday locked the bridegroom and members of the marriage party (Barat) in the banquet hall, when they came to know that this was his third marriage.

As soon as the marriage party reached Nai Abadi locality of Galowal village, someone informed the bride’s parents that the boy( groom) had been married twice earlier. Bride’s parents informed the police. A police party reached the spot and took the groom and members of the marriage party to the police station. Her parents said the boy never informed that he had already married twice. However, the boy alleged that this was all in the knowledge of the girl, while the girl denied it. Girl’s parents said they had spent Rs 4 lakh on marriage arrangements. Dasuya police investigation officer Jasbir Singh said after recording statements of the girl and her parents, action will be initiated as per law.
