A minor argument between two groups today took an ugly turn after one of the group allegedly opened fire at the other.

Panic gripped residents of Basti Bawa Khel here when three youths fired gunshot at a father-son duo. However, the victims remained unhurt.

Basti Bawa Khel SHO Kamaljit Singh said the incident was reported around 12.45 pm when the suspects, identified as Akashdeep Singh, Shivam Kumar and Kaka, started fighting with Tarsem Singh and his son Amandeep Singh. The suspects not only hit the victims but also opened fire at them due to an old rivalry. Both suspects and the victims are residents of Basti Bawa Khel.

A case under Sections 336 and 506 of the IPC and 25, 54 and 64 of the Arms Act has been arrested against all suspects. The SHO said the suspects were still absconding.

Meanwhile, ADCP (City-2) Parminder Singh said both all persons involved in the incident had criminal background and were arrested a few months ago. Amandeep fought with Akashdeep in the jail where they were lodged, due to which the latter took a revenge.
