Phillaur, February 5
Congress leader Vikramjit Singh Chaudhary inaugurated the Guru Ravidas Gate in the presence of Sant Samaaj and residents of Phillaur today. He was accompanied by Sant Nirmal Das, Sant Paramjeet Dass, Sant Sarwan Dass, Bohan Wale, Sant Purshottam Das, Sant Sarwan Dass, Salem Tabri Wale, Sant Jaspal, Sant Inder Das, Sant Ramdass, and Bibi Nimmo.
The gate has been constructed by Shri Guru Ravidass Bhawan Prabandhak Committee, Phillaur, under the chairmanship of MC Raj Kumar Sandhu and Tara Chand Jakhu who is the General Secretary of the Committee.
Before the inauguration, an ardas was performed to seek the blessings of Sri Guru Granth Sahib. Vikram Singh Chaudhary said the teachings of Guru Ravidas were of universal importance and of even more relevance today.
He said it were the ideas and principles of Guru Ravidas which were at the foundation of our Constitution drafted by Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar.
“Guru Ravidas ji’s thoughts on equality and welfare can guide us in realising the dream of an ideal society. He gave us the vision of Begampura, a society where there was no suffering and sorrow. It is our responsibility to fulfil that vision,” he added.
Phillaur Deputy Superintendent of Police Davinder Attri, president City Congress Balak Ram, Phillaur Station House Officer Sukha Singh, Goraya Station House Officer Kewal Singh and MC Raj Kumar Sandhu, Dr Vaibhav Sharma, Mohinder Ram, EO Vijay Dogra were also present on the occasion.
