As per directions issued by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), Assistant Food Commissioner Harjot Pal-led team collected the samples of food products and oil in Kapurthala today.

Food Safety Officer Mukul Gill and others carried out sampling of cooking oil at various establishments. Gill said the samples were collected as per the instructions of FSSAI and all had been sent to laboratories for testing.

He said the sampling had been carried out in view of the festival season and more such campaigns would be conducted in the district in the future as well. He said not only oil but sampling of food products, fast food, sweet meats, bakery items, milk and milk products, etc. would also be carried out in the coming days.

He said during the ongoing drives, shopkeepers and food establishment owners had also been instructed to keep their units clean and ensure the utmost quality of the food products that they sell at their respective establishments. Food establishments were also directed to ensure they had the requisite food safety registrations and licenses for their respective establishments.
