Health notes: CME for doctors conducted
Jalandhar: Dr SPS Grover, Director of New Ruby Hospital Pvt Ltd, link Road, Jalandhar, conducted a CME for doctors of Jalandhar, Phagwara and Kapurthala, regarding the management of chest pain and heart failure. Senior cardiologist Dr Manbir Singh spoke on the subject of chest pain emphasising upon the seriousness of the symptoms and need for early clinical evaluation and management of chest pain. He explained various causes of chest pain and how to manage them. Along with this, latest treatment modality and new drugs for treatment of heart failure were also discussed elaborately. The role of preventive measures to prevent these event were also discussed in the CME. Dr Paramjit Singh, Dr Raj Kumar, Dr Sandip, Dr Parminder Singh, Dr Vipan Arora, Dr Rajinder, Dr PS Arora and Dr Harvinder Pal Singh were present among others.
Three-day training for CHOs
Jalandhar: Jalandhar Civil Surgeon Dr Gurmeet Lal initiated a three-day training for the CHOs of the district on Monday at the Civil Surgeon's office for the identification and prevention of non-communicable diseases. The state Health Department has launched 31 health facilities with the aim of providing quality health facilities to the people. A special campaign has been started to check for non-communicable diseases (NCD) till March. The training session was started in view of this. The Civil Surgeon said the main objective of the campaign is that every person above the age of 18 years should be taken care of and health check-ups should be done for non-communicable diseases and its data should be uploaded on the NCD portal. The Civil Surgeon further informed that under this campaign 30 NCD screenings of persons above the age of 18 is being done, including diabetes, hypertension and three types of cancer — oral, breast and cervical cancer. He said NCDs are usually long -term illnesses that take time to recover. The Civil Surgeon directed the CHOs during the training session to ensure that every person above the age of 30 years in their areas should be screened for NCDs.
