High-voltage shock damages house gadgets
A major tragedy was averted when an iron ladder came in contact with high-voltage power lines, causing significant damage to nearby houses in Sukhchain Nagar, Phagwara, on Tuesday.
Sonu, the house owner, said a neighbour accidentally hit the power lines with a ladder, resulting in extensive damage to their household appliances, including two air-conditioners, a refrigerator, an LED TV, a submersible pump, lights and electrical switches.
The incident caused losses amounting to lakhs of rupees. Sonu added that the high-voltage current affected several other houses in the area as well.
Upon receiving information, teams from the fire brigade and the Punjab State Electricity Board arrived at the scene and managed to control the situation, using fire extinguishers.
A complaint has been lodged with the police against the person responsible for the accident and residents have demanded action.
