Hockey: Punjab trounce Odisha 3-2 to enter quarter-finals

Punjab men’s hockey team has reached the quarter-finals of the 15th Hockey India Senior Men’s National Hockey Championship organised by Hockey India in Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh. Giving information in this regard, Hockey Punjab president Nitan Kohli and general secretary Amrik Singh Puar said that in a Pool A tie, the Punjab team defeated Odisha 3-2 to make it to the quarter-finals. Olympian Jugraj Singh, international player Arajit Singh Hundal and Pradeep Singh scored for Punjab, while Amit Rohidas and Mityas Dang scored for Odisha. The Punjab team is captained by Olympian and vice-captain of Indian hockey team, Hardik Singh.

The Punjab team members include Olympians Varun Kumar, Jugraj Singh, Germanpreet Singh, Krishna Bahadur Pathak, Gurjant Singh and Harjeet Singh, Vikramjit Singh, Pradeep Singh, Gurinder Singh, Maninder Singh, Arajit Singh Hundal, Jaskaran Singh, Talwinder Singh, Arshdeep Singh as also Jasjit Singh. Kular and Prisdeep Singh are also included. The coach of the team is Olympian Rajinder Singh Sr and the manager is Olympian Sanjeev Kumar. The assistant coach is Ravinder Singh.
