In the House meeting of Municipal Corporation Hoshiarpur, an expenditure of Rs 28 crore was approved for road construction, water supply and sewerage lines in the city.
Many decisions were taken to improve the development works and sanitation management of the city. Giving information, MLA Brahm Shankar Jimpa and Mayor Surinder Kumar said providing better facilities to the city residents is the priority. To make the sanitation system of the city more effective, it was decided to hand over the work of garbage collection and processing to a private company.
In the meeting, Rs 9.75 lakh was sanctioned for purchasing four handy fogging machines for prevention of dengue and malaria and three small machines for removing sewerage blockage. Apart from this, approval was given to demolish unsafe and dilapidated buildings and to send garbage directly from every house to the Pipalwala processing centre.
MLA Brahm Shankar Jimpa said under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, the Punjab Government has continuously intensified efforts to give an ideal shape to the cities. No stone will be left unturned to equip Hoshiarpur city with modern facilities, he said.
It was also decided that a war memorial will be built on one acre of Municipal Corporation land.
